about

The waves of the sea ebb and flow, sometimes the water is calm and sometimes it is treacherous, continuing to rise and fall, dispersing without change.

The sounds used within this piece were captured on a series of recording trips in North Wales, in particular off the coast of Anglesey and Y Felinheli near to Bangor, Gwynedd. The piece explores recordings of the sea and water, in which sounds are transformed to the abstract and unrecognisable exploring the different sonic qualities of water. Here the contrast between the natural, referential sounds and those completely abstract explores the paths and passages found above and below water, travelling in particular to areas of the unknown.
