From Castle Crag is an 8-channel work composed solely using sounds of pieces of slate colliding together.

The objects were originally sourced from Castle Crag in the Lake District, and subsequently recorded in a studio environment. The work was primarily written as an exercise in multichannel composition, and explores certain ideas such as: how space can be used thematically and motivically; how depth can be explored to spatially layer sounds; and how space can affect the interaction of contrasting material.
